De-Cleeting: Playoffs Reactions and Coaching Changes

As Peter Griffin would say, the bird is the word as three of the teams remaining in the NFL playoffs are of the avian variety. They are two six seeds in the Ravens and Eagles and a 9-7 four seed in the Cardinals who all got wins on the road to keep Super Bowl hopes flying. The only flightless team left are the Steelers who kept in on the ground against the Chargers to advance. I would like to offer up this picture as my first ever attempt at Photoshop so please do not judge too harshly. Catfish and I covered the games already in the lastest Shackleford Files so I submit this work of computer art, along with some news on the latest playoff reactions and coaching moves.

The Broncos hire Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels as head coach. I wonder if Belichick will be as miffed about this as when Mangini left. [The Denver Post]

The Giants found out what it's like to be on the bad end of an upset. [New York Daily News]

The Panthers are facing some tough decisions on players following their beatdown at the hands(wings?) of teh Cardinals. Chief among them is what to do with Julius Peppers. [Carolina Growl]

Tony Dungy is stepping down as Colts head coach today. He will put his energy into ministering to young men, Tim Tebow nods in approval. He was one Reche Caldwell dropped pass from being ringless, but no one can deny Dungy's class and character. [Indianapolis Star]

A long strange trip for Mangini back to Cleveland. Let's see if he has more success than his former bosses Belichick and Crennel did with the Browns. [Cleveland Plain Dealer]

Ravens' defensive coordinator Rex Ryan is said to be the leading candidate for the Jets job. I hope he pulls a Lane Kiffin and hires his dad to take over the defense. [Pro Football Talk]
